A: You may use /nickserv register password email@address.com. Please use a unique password, and a valid email address. The email address will be used to send you your forgotten password. You must wait one minute after connecting before services will allow you to register or group your nickname. You are permitted to have 4 nicknames REGISTERed or GROUPed.
Q: What is GROUP?
A:/ns GROUP may be used to link nicknames together. They will have the same channel access, and the same vHost, if one is assigned. As with REGISTER, you may have 4 nicknames total.
Q: How do I register my channel?
A: You may use /chanserv register #channel password description. Please use a unique password. Upon registration, the channel description will be set as the first topic.
Q: What is a vHost?
A: A vHost is a Virtual Host that masks your real hostmask/IP address with a custom display. They can be just about anything you want them to be. Ident's (before the '@') must be shorter than 9 characters. Please ask in #dynasty_help for help, or a vHost.
Q: How do I sync my vHost with my newly GROUP'd nickname?
A: Use /vs group from your main nickname that the vHost was applied to. In a future services upgrade, this shouldn't be necessary.
Q: Is there a way to get my channel modes after I've IDENTIFY'd, but already joined my channels?
A: Yes. You can set /nickserv set MODEME on. This will give you your access to all channels you are in, and have access to.
Q: I've been spammed! Now what?
A: To report spam, please join #busted. This channel has been specifically coded to only allow channel operators (@) to see channel messages. This will prevent any other user that joins from seeing the spam message. It is also the only channel exempt from any Spamfilters in place.
Q: What's a Spamfilter?
A: A Spamfilter is a feature that allows IRCops to add a 'watch' for a defined word or phrase that has been identified as spam, or has malicious content. Spamfilters are running on the IRCd, so we can set them to block the message from even being displayed, or to kill or ban the client when it is triggered.
If you're still confused, it's kind of like how +G changes badwords to '<censored>', it searches for a match and executes the settings when it finds one.
Q: I got banned! Now what?
A: If it's a network wide ban and you don't understand the ban message, you may contact us and we'll tell you why you were banned.
A: If it was a channel ban, you'll have to wait it out or email the channel, if they have an email set. Channel bans can be placed for no reason, so it is up to the channel ops to decide when a ban is placed or removed.
Q: I get this error message: ERROR :Closing Link: (Throttled: Reconnecting too fast) :What does it mean?
A: Throttling is enabled to prevent clients from quickly reconnecting and flooding the server with empty/ghost connections. Our current setting is 3 connects within 30 seconds. Most likely your client became disconnected, and is trying quickly to reconnect. If you run mIRC, you can change these connect settings under Options->Retry. The best thing to do, is stop the client from trying to connect, and wait 30 seconds. This will then remove your hostmask from the throttle check, and will allow you to connect.
